Progress Report Example
Progress Report on the Second Floor Addition to InfiniTea
INTRODUCTION
From the beginning, we have envisioned and hoped for InfiniTea to grow and continually become a bigger part of the community here in Klamath Falls. However, we originally didn’t have the funds to construct a large building that could house events and help organizations in our town. Our shop is entirely community based. What that means is that we aim to help everyone in this town, both as an entire whole and also in its divided groups. We want to support Klamath Falls for what it is, and also assist smaller groups within Klamath Falls, such as the students, athletes, clubs, and artists. For this reason, we have been discussing the idea of adding on to our shop for quite awhile now. We felt that having more room in our shop would allow for more opportunities to help others. So one month ago, we began construction for an upper floor to the shop, and we are finally accomplishing this goal that we have been imagining for the past four years, ever since InfiniTea began.
THE TIMELINE
This section will describe the construction that took place over the past three weeks, the finishing touches that we are working on now, and also the grand opening which will take place this upcoming week. All of these events are summed up in Timetable 1, which is located in Appendix A.
Past
We have spent the past three weeks doing construction on the shop. It has been closed since November 19th and is due to re-open on December 17th. All of the construction went very smoothly and on schedule. Our contractor, Frank Ehlers of Ehlers C C Contractors, was great to work with. He and his crew helped us in so many ways. They helped us choose all of the best supplies, such as specific soundproof doors and windows, for the shop. They went through everything with us and made time to help us choose all of the supplies before construction began.
The first step was to demolish the roof of the single story shop and to start framing the second floor. At this time, we also started framing the deck, along with the upper floor. After the framing, we installed the soundproof doors and windows. We chose these types because of the weekly music shows hosted here. Now, students can study quietly downstairs without being disturbed by the music upstairs. After this was finished, the team put up the siding on the upper floor and finished the roof.
The next phase of the plan was to install the electrical, air-conditioning, heating system, and wall insulation. After that, the drywall was put up and the wood floor was installed. The final stage of construction was to finish the outside deck.
Present We just finished construction on the upper floor and deck yesterday. We are now in the process of painting walls, moving in furniture, hanging art lights, and finishing working on the stage and installing its accessories.
We are also currently training two new employees we hired this month. Their training has taken place over the last three days and has been going very well. They are now well-acquainted with all of the equipment and policies of the shop and should be ready to work as soon as the shop re-opens.
Future
Our grand re-opening is in two days and we are finishing up employee training and decorating the upstairs. As the day is getting closer, we are becoming increasingly excited for the re-opening and to celebrate the Klamath Falls Community with our customers. All of the products are going to be half off and we are also having an open mic event for anybody to come and play their music.
CONCLUSION
Now that we have an additional floor to our shop, we are excited to be able to help our community all the more by hosting events, sponsoring organizations, allowing students to have access to more study room, and being able to accept more artistic and musical talent. We have finished construction and are preparing for our grand re-opening, which makes us excited for the completion of this project that will help InfiniTea continue to thrive. |
